Can I use HTML in my item description, like if I want to add a picture or a link?

Posted by Kim Good on Feb 25, 2009

Yes you absolutely can!  In doing so, you will want to be sure that the image (if you are using an image) is uploaded to your Yahoo! Store, or to a public location such as Flickr or Google Photos.  You can then use  the HTML to reference the location of the image.

Why won’t some of my pictures click to enlarge?

Posted by Kim Good on Feb 18, 2009

Since the enlarged version of the image displays the original file, the click to enlarge requires the original file to be larger that dimensions set for the item pages.
Yahoo’s default and the Solid Cactus version of click to enlarge both have a feature that will not allow the image to be clicked if the original [...]

I’m trying to edit a product, but I’m missing the ship-weight, price and options fields.

Posted by Kim Good on Feb 12, 2009

Those will be removed from an edit page, if you click the “Hide Product” button on the edit page. That button is used to change an item page to a section page.
If you simply click “Show Product” the price, sale-price, options, ship-weight, and taxable fields will appear again, and can be edited again like usual.

I would like to offer gift wrap on my site, but I’d like to allow my customers the choice of which items should be gift wrapped.

Posted by Kim Good on Feb 3, 2009

That’s a very common questions, and not only that, but also giving your customers the choice of what wrapping paper to use on the products.
The best way to achieve this is by item options. You’d simply add an option to each of your products (This can be done by spreadsheet to make this update quicker).  [...]

My product options incur an additional charge, how can I make my Yahoo store charge extra for one option?

Posted by Kim Good on Jan 30, 2009

The options are created the same way. For the choice with the additional charge you’d follow the option value with the amount of the up charge in parentheses. So you’re options would like this:
Size Small Medium Large “Extra Large(+$2.50)”

The properties listed on the variables page are global but there may be an instance where a setting for every page doesn’t meet the needs of a specific page. In those cases you’ll do an override variable. The first step is to click Edit on the page that needs to be different at the top [...]

How can I customize the Availability messages?

Posted by Kim Good on Jan 14, 2009

The drop down provided by Yahoo has a variety of delivery estimates, however they may not suit everyone. That’s why the best way to update or customize the availablity message is through a csv, or spreadsheet.
Updating the message is as simple as creating a column in the spreadsheet called “Availability”. Then just populate it with [...]

Can I make the name input field in my shopping cart two fields instead of one?

Posted by Kim Good on Jan 5, 2009

By default the Name input field in your shopping cart will display as one input field. This may not seem like a big deal, but in this format Yahoo only checks to make sure something is filled in - not necessarily that there is a first and last name. So someone could type “Steve” in [...]

What’s the difference between Publishing the Catalog Manager and Publishing the Store Editor?

Posted by Kim Good on Jan 2, 2009

The difference in the two publishing location is the same as the information they are managing. Sure you can manage your product information in both locations, but in all honesty the Catalog Manager is mainly concerned with the product information only.
So a publish in the store editor will rebuild your store pages for the site. [...]

I’ve created all of the products in my site, but now I’d like to create some pages that just have content for search engines. How do I create an informational page?

Posted by Kim Good on Dec 30, 2008

Informational pages are created by using the contents button in the tool bar; then clicking new. Just like you would if you were creating one of your item pages. Just like an item page, you can have the id be anything you like.
I suppose the hardest part of creating an informational page is deciding if [...]
